![]() The overwhelming optimism in many of these songs are shared by Footlight Parade‘s characters. True, none of the lyrics to these songs by two duos (Sammy Fain and Irving Kahal wrote most of the numbers, while Harry Warren and Al Dubin penned “Honeymoon Hotel” and “Shanghai Lil”) have anything to do with the story, but they are so entertaining you can easily forgive them. There’s nothing realistic about any of these and other numbers in the movie. “Shanghai Lil” is a funny pastiche of Josef von Sternberg-Marlene Dietcrich movies that is designed like a world unto itself, coming to a climax when Cagney dances on the bar with Keeler. In “By A Waterfall,” Berkeley takes the camera underwater to give us views we could never see from a theater seat. “Honeymoon Hotel” features intricate camera work as Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler keep singing as they move from floor to floor and room to room. So, he completely disregarded the story of Footlight Parade – which tells us that these numbers are supposedly being performed on the stage – and went bonkers. basically gave Berkeley a blank check after the successes of 42nd Street and Gold Diggers of 1933 to come up with whatever he wanted. At the height of the Great Depression, Warner Bros. Seeing those production numbers today is simply jaw-dropping. It sounds insane and impossible, and it is, considering the numbers Berkeley has in store for us. Kent is told he can only impress an investor if his company can miraculously put on three prologues on the same night at three different theaters. Somehow Bacon keeps all these tangents together well enough for the first three quarters of the movie that you can feel out of breath even before the Berkeley numbers finally come in. Yeesh, what’s a guy gotta do to get a break around here? Tap dance? On top of all this, he has no idea that his secretary Nan ( Joan Blondell) is really in love with him. Oh, and the producers aren’t paying Kent his full salary, the girl he thinks has fallen in love with him is a gold digger and his ex-wife revealed she’s not getting the divorce until he gives her more money. A wife of one of the producers insists Kent hire one of her “proteges” (Dick Powell) as a featured singer. He has a spy in his midst, leaking details of prologues to his competitor. Unfortunately for Kent (but fortunately for the audience), nothing comes easy for him. The producers like this idea, and Kent sets to work. At first, his producers balk at the idea, but then he suggests they put the prologues out on tour, offering theater owners “package deals” across the country. He is going to make the best prologues moviegoers have ever seen. After his wife (Renee Whitney) files for divorce, Kent hatches an ingenious plan. Directed by the incredibly prolific Lloyd Bacon, Footlight Parade stars James Cagney as Chester Kent, a Broadway director whose livelihood is in danger because of talkies. ![]() Wonder if this might be why there's such a discrepancy between Drostan's IZ & OOZ performance? IZ Drostan seems to be an incredibly unreliable ship. Sometimes it did attack runs where it launched just a single missile at the enemy, even saw some attack runs where it completely failed to launch any missiles at all, shooting it's puny mk1 Pulsed Maser at the enemy instead (with negligible effect). Tends not to use it's full firepower, only firing a few missiles at a time, rather than all 12. However, from what I've observed (bought a few to test) it's possible Drostan is a bit buggy when launching missiles IZ. Drostan has 2 additional missile batteries which fire 60k & 80k missiles instead - doubt you would have survived a full salvo from either of those. Guessing that was a hit from the lightest missile battery on the Drostan - hull hp after the missiles hit suggests that: 100k hull + 90k shields - 4x40k missiles = 30k hull remaining (i.e. Checked it with dashing 4 shields - and i could 'collect' all its missiles. Pref wrote:Though it cant even oneshot the skunk IZ on normal mode (leaves like 30% hp on the skunk). Also I don't see reason why they cant use hacker drones too to hack stations as well. At least they should board ships or attempt to steal cargo after they destroy ship. All they do now is just blow things up just like Xenon. As for pirates they should act like pirates at least. ![]() One is super easy and other is supper hard. I think they should balance off sector and in sector battles. Fun stuff & quite profitable too (tons of salvage to collect afterwards). Then, couple of minutes after that, a Xenon K joined in bringing another 20 or so fighters with it. The fighters + 1 Titurel were already in the process of attacking the station when I arrived (was there to do some ice mining), 2nd Titurel arrived shortly after I did. Biggest pirate fleet I've seen so far consisted of well over 40 pirate fighters with 2 Titurels, swarming all over the Construction Shop in Frozen Circuit. Doesn't happen all the time, but it's not all that rare either. Getting exactly the same in my game & absolutely no mods here. ![]() Most of sips I have seen is squad 6-8 plus capital ship. There is no reason why my ship should be super strong in sector and cant even fight back off sector.40-50 fighters ? Are you sure you are not using any mods ? I never seen anything like that in my game. Nothing personal but there is no way S size ship can instant kill XL ships or even do mass damage to station with over 500 point here was if that ship can take on 10 pirates without problem in sector it should be same off sector too. So saying that everything is ok is just funny. So everyone who is complaining here is wrong and only hand full is rightĮdit: There is problem with off sector battles and it needs to be fixed. As far as I have seen all pirates squads are no more than 8 ships. And for the record all of my ships are INSTANT KILLED by Drostan. But now off sector pirates become killing machines. At this point in sector battle pirates are joke even my Rahana can take care of them without scratch. If my ship can defend it self against pirates in sector than it should do the same off sector. Point is off sector should be same as in sector battle. It is not about defending ships or anything like that. Occasionally one of my freighters strays into an unprotected zone looking for a good trade & gets itself killed, but that's why I mostly use Styrvoks which are cheap to replace.Īgain you are missing a point. Doubt my game is significantly different to anyone else's with regard to pirate/Xenon activity (still get fairly frequent rep change notifications from hostile factions whenever their ships get clobbered by my patrols), I have just invested sufficient resources to ensure my ships are adequately protected & rarely lose them. If people are losing that many ships clearly they aren't defending them well enough. Nobody is making this staff up and perhaps you just got lucky or there is really bad bug that you don't have. There are people that lost over 40 ships in matter of hours. Also if you read trough beta and tech you can see many people are complaining about it. ![]() It was the 2011 winner of the National Academies. It's also non-comedogenic, and approved by National Eczema Association. Its broad-spectrum SPF 30 sun protection contains ultra-fine zinc, meaning the protective formula spreads easily without leaving a white cast. It's no wonder, then, that in terms of drugstore moisturizers with SPF, you can't do much better than this one-especially if you have dry skin. I also use my pendulum when I need to choose between several products. If I am unsure, I ask: “ Is the 9 of wands in this reading referring to my being persistent despite setbacks?” I watch for my “ yes or no.” If I get a no, I will continue exhausting possibilities until I come up with the meaning (confirmation with a yes swing) that sheds light on that particular situation. It speaks to showing perseverance, but it also can mean defending yourself. Let’s say I turned over the 9 of wands in a reading. Sometimes, it helps me to validate that my first impression is the meaning my higher self was going for. If you are familiar with the tarot, you know that each card can have several meanings. I like to use my pendulum when I am working with my tarot cards and need to clarify the meaning of a particular card. Here a few ways I use this tool of divination: For me that is my spirit team’s way of letting me know there is not enough information yet to answer, or it’s a n’un ya, as in, none of your business Sabrina!
